(17215) Slivan Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 6 January 2000 by LONEOS at Anderson Mesa.

Stephen M. Slivan (b. 1962) demonstrated a preferential spin-vector alignment among Koronis family members. Known as “Slivan states”, the discovery has led to a new understanding of thermal radiation forces on small bodies.Naming citation (20050721/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
