Discovered on 6 January 2000 by LONEOS at Anderson Mesa.

Herbert A. (“Herb”) Zook (1932-2001) was a planetary scientist who advanced the understanding of the interplanetary dust complex by his studies at the NASA Johnson Space Center of meteoroid orbital evolution, collisions, resonant orbit interactions, radiation pressure and electromagnetic effects.Naming citation (20030318/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
