(805997) Wolszczan Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 12 June 2016 by COIAS at Maunakea.
Aleksander Wolszczan (b. 1946) is a Polish radio astronomer and Professor at the Pennsylvania State University. In 1992, with Dale Frail, he co-discovered the first exoplanets, orbiting the millisecond pulsar PSR B1257+12, using the Arecibo Observatory. This pioneering discovery became a major catalyst that launched the modern field of exoplanet research.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 5, #28, 19), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
