(8736) Shigehisa Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 9 January 1997 by T. Kobayashi at Oizumi.
Osao Shigehisa (b. 1936) has actively observed variable stars since 1952. An enthusiastic recorder of the activities of Japanese amateur astronomers, he played an important role in compiling a History of Amateur Astronomy in Japan in 1987, as well as a sequel in 1994.Naming citation (20080321/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
