German palaeontologic geologist Thorolf Weiser (b. 1938) published an in situ investigation of the N枚rdlinger Ries crater. He later changed his field to mineralogy, using electron-microprobe analysis for the determination of several new minerals.Discovered 12 August 1994 by E. W. Elst, La Silla
