(16522) Tell Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 15 January 1991 by F. Borngen at Tautenburg.

Wilhelm Tell, legendary hero of the well-known Swiss saga, distinguished himself in the fight for independence of the Inner Swiss against the Habsburg landvogt Gessler in the fourteenth century. Variously, this myth was treated in literature, e.g., by Schiller in 1804. It still influences the Swiss national consciousness.Naming citation (20001111/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
