(11082) Spilliaert Outer Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 14 May 1993 by E. W. Elst at La Silla.

Léon Spilliaert (1881-1946) was a self-taught Belgian painter who developed his art far beyond the symbolism of the fin de siècle. Precursors of geometrical abstractions, his La Baigneuse and La Digue show the strong influence of the surroundings of Ostend, where he was living.Naming citation (20070402/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
