(40995) Muhleis Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 27 October 1999 by Starkenburg at Heppenheim.

Fritz Mühleis (1909–1984) was a German pharmacist and amateur astronomer who held doctoral degrees in philosophy and political science. In the 1970s, he donated the equipment from his private observatory to the Starkenburg Observatory Heppenheim. Using the donated 0.2-m and 0.45-m reflectors, numerous minor planets were discovered, including this one.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 5, #3, 14), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
