(27758) Michelson Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 12 September 1991 by Borngen, F., Schmadel, L. D. at Tautenburg.

German-American physicist Albert Abraham Michelson (1852-1931), 1907 Nobel Physics Laureate, refuted the supposition of the ether and made an accurate determination of the speed of light. He also measured interferometrically the absolute diameters of several stars and resolved the structure of their spectral lines.Naming citation (20011101/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
