(9287) Klima Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 6 March 1981 by S. J. Bus at Siding Spring.

Rachel L. Klima (b. 1974) is a planetary geologist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. Her spectroscopic work on synthetic pyroxenes has allowed the cooling history of similarly-measured asteroids to be determined from the strength of their absorption features.Naming citation (MPC batch dated 2014-07-12), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
