(26924) Johnharvey Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 30 December 1996 by R. A. Tucker at Goodricke-Pigott.

With his fundamental contributions to solar physics, John Warren Harvey (b. 1940) has advanced the understanding of solar magnetic fields and oscillations. He was largely responsible for the successful implementation of the Kitt Peak Vacuum Tower Telescope, the GONG helioseismology network and the SOLIS instrument.Naming citation (20030806/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
