Discovered on 13 May 1991 by Shoemaker, C. S., Shoemaker, E. M. at Palomar.

Robert Iasky (b. 1956), geophysicist with the Geological Survey of Western Australia, discovered the 120 km-diameter late Devonian Woodleigh impact structure in the Canarvon Basin.
