(11055) Honduras Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 8 April 1991 by E. W. Elst at La Silla.
Honduras, in the northern part of the Central American isthmus, is a country of rugged mountains and steep river gorges and dense forest, lined on the Caribbean coast by tropical jungle famed in past centuries for pirates. As in Guatemala there are relics of the Mayan civilization.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 3, #12, 6), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
