(8039) Grandprism Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 15 September 1993 by Debehogne, H., Elst, E. W. at La Silla.
The Grand Prism Objectiv-40cm astrograph (GPO), used without prism, has served for many years for searching for minor planets at La Silla. From 1978 to 1993, more than 1000 new minor planets were found with this instrument.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 4, #10, 6), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
