(14918) Gonzalezalegre Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 21 January 1994 by O. A. Naranjo at Merida.

José González Alegre y Álvarez (1830–1918) was a Spanish lawyer from Oviedo, Asturias, and a prominent member of the local intelligentsia who participated in the observations of the total solar eclipse of July 18, 1860. His involvement highlights the role of educated non-professionals in the popularization and documentation of 19th-century Spanish astronomy.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 6, #2, 7), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
