Discovered on 4 April 1992 by E. W. Elst at La Silla.

Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) was a French composer who revolutionized French music by using daring harmonic progressions and modulations. A set of highly original nocturnes, barcaroles and impromptus was composed after the example of Chopin. His Ballade (1881) for piano is very popular.Naming citation (20021120/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
