(29552) Chern Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 15 February 1998 by Beijing Schmidt CCD Asteroid Program at Xinglong.

Shiing-shen Chern (b. 1911) is a Chinese-American mathematician and educator whose researches in differential geometry include the development of the Chern characteristic classes in fiber spaces. These play a role in all areas of mathematics and mathematical physics.Naming citation (20040928/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
