(59211) Bernardfort Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 20 January 1999 by ODAS at Caussols.

Bernard Fort (b. 1942) is a French astronomer whose pioneering work on CCD detectors advanced optical astronomy. It enabled the discovery of the first giant gravitationally lensed arcs in the galaxy cluster Abell 370 followed by early measurements of weak lensing distortions. He later served two terms as Director of the Institut d’Astrophysique de Paris.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 6, #3, 9), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
