Discovered on 1 March 1992 by UESAC at La Silla.

Älvsjö, now a residential suburb of Stockholm, is the location of the battle of Brännkyrka (1518), in which the young king-to-be Gustaf Vasa participated. More than a thousand lives were lost, and many streets of Älvsjö bear the names of men killed in the battle.Naming citation (19990928/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
