(598855) Agerer Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 26 February 2009 by F. Hormuth at Calar Alto.
Franz Agerer (1943–2022) was a German amateur astronomer who monitored numerous variable stars over decades, discovered more than 200 new variables, and played a major role in continuing the Lichtenknecker Database of the BAV. He also developed a novel robotic telescope mounted on a horizontal axis for efficiently alternating between selected sky fields.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 3, #17, 7), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
