Named in honor of Stacie Pinney for mentoring a finalist in the 2001 Discovery Young Scientist Challenge (DYSC), a middle school science competition. Pinney is a teacher at the Annunciation Catholic Academy, Altamonte, Florida.Discovered 6 December 1999 by LINEAR, Socorro
