Asteroids named after people called Sahara

(26871) Tanezrouft

The Tanezrouft Basin, a part of the Sahara Desert, lies just above the Tropic of Cancer, about 750 miles south of Algiers. An especially parched land with annual rainfall less than 0.2 inches, it is hyperarid, with very high temperatures and scarcity of vegetation. There are no permanent residents here, only occasional Tuareg nomads.Discovered 9 October 1993 by E. W. Elst, La Silla
