Liane G. Benning (b. 1963) is a German expert in mineral formation and microbe/mineral interactions in extreme environments. She is a Professor of Interface Chemistry at the GFZ Potsdam and the Freie Universit盲t Berlin. Liane has advanced humanity's ability to search for biosignatures in the Martian geological record with her work on Martian meteorites.Discovered 19 December 1995 by NEAT, Haleakala
