Asteroids named after people called Keith

(6472) Rosema

Named in honor of Keith D. Rosema (b. 1967), computer scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In 1989, Rosema completed the first California Institute of Technology senior thesis in asteroid radar astronomy. Since then he has used his formidable computer-programming expertise and analytical talents to make crucial contributions to observations of near-Earth and main-belt asteroids. His library of software has proved to be an essential tool for reduction and analysis of echoes from most of the radar-detected asteroids, including (4769) Castalia, (4179) Toutatis, (1620) Geographos and (6489) 1991 JX. Rosema is also one of a handful of people who have devoted extensive time to asteroid radar astronomy at both Arecibo and Goldstone. Name suggested and citation prepared by S. J. Ostro.Discovered 15 October 1985 by E. Bowell, Anderson Mesa

(12565) Khege

Keith Hege (b. 1932), of Steward Observatory, University of Arizona, is an expert in high angular resolution astronomy and instrumentation. His image reconstruction of (433) Eros from speckle interferometric measurements made in 1981 was vindicated by the NEAR mission in 2000.Discovered 16 September 1998 by LONEOS, Anderson Mesa

(16079) Imada

Keith Imada mentored a finalist in the 2003 Intel Science Talent Search, a science competition for high school seniors. He teaches at the Maui High School, Kahului, Hawaii.Discovered 9 September 1999 by LINEAR, Socorro

(20360) Holsapple

Keith A. Holsapple (b. 1938) is a professor of engineering at the University of Washington. An expert in modeling the response of planetary and asteroidal material to stress and shock, Holsapple has developed scaling laws for cratering and has explored the relationship between asteroidal shape, spin rates and internal strength.Discovered 1 May 1998 by LONEOS, Anderson Mesa

(34522) Cadores

Keith Russel Pelagio Cadores (b. 1999) was awarded second place in the 2018 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for his energy team project. He attended the Camarines Sur National High School, Naga City, Camarines Sur, Philippines.Discovered 24 September 2000 by LINEAR, Socorro

(46442) Keithtritton

Keith Tritton (b. 1944) optically identified and monitored radio galaxies and quasars while he was an observational astronomer at the Royal Greenwich Observatory from 1967 to 1997. The discoverers recently found his lost short-period comet D/1978 C2, now numbered 157P.Discovered 12 June 2002 by Juels, C. W., Holvorcem, P. R., Fountain Hills

(117610) Keithmahoney

Keith Mahoney (b. 1970) was the flight system Guidance, Navigation, and Control LIDAR engineer at Lockheed Martin for the OSIRIS-REx Mission.Discovered 8 March 2005 by Mt. Lemmon Survey, Mount Lemmon

(159827) Keithmullen

Keith Mullen (b. 1952) is vice president of the Huachuca Astronomy Club of Sierra Vista, Arizona. He has energetically supported and encouraged the club's activities, both astronomical and social.Discovered 4 October 2003 by D. Healy, Junk Bond
