(20771) Yurimoto Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 25 August 2000 by LINEAR at Socorro.
Hisayoshi Yurimoto (b. 1962) is a Japanese cosmochemist who has made innovative developments in isotope microscopes. His oxygen isotope analysis showed that Itokawa particles are ordinary chondrite-like, and his strong leadership ensured the successful curation and chemical and isotopic analysis of samples from Ryugu from the Hayabusa2 spacecraft.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 6, #11, 38), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
Where Yurimoto is today
Seen from above the solar system on 2026-10-14: Yurimoto is 2.23 au from the Sun and 3.22 au from Earth. Computed from JPL's orbital elements.
