(48408) Yoshinogari Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 14 November 1982 by Kosai, H., Hurukawa, K. at Kiso.
Yoshinogari is a large moated settlement from the Yayoi period (500 BCE–300 CE) in Saga Prefecture, Japan. An on-going excavation is collecting important data to understand the settlement at that time. The alignment of the site may be related to the movement of celestial bodies.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 5, #1, 18), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
