(5555) Wimberly Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 5 November 1986 by E. Bowell at Anderson Mesa.
Ravenel N. Wimberly (1946- ) is a member of the Solar System Dynamics Group at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His intimate knowledge of various computer systems has proven invaluable in helping organize and carry out the ephemeris development efforts for the comet and asteroid targets of several flyby missions. Citation prepared by D. K. Yeomans, a colleague of the honoree.Naming citation (MPC22831), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
