(5368) Vitagliano Outer Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 21 September 1984 by H. Debehogne at La Silla.
Aldo Vitagliano (b. 1948), of the University of Naples, wrote the software program “Solex” based on personal simplifications of methods of celestial mechanics. This software allows high accuracy in computing ephemerides of solar-system bodies, including minor planets. The name was suggested by J. Meeus.Naming citation (20050721/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
Where Vitagliano is today
Seen from above the solar system on 2026-10-14: Vitagliano is 3.66 au from the Sun and 3.97 au from Earth. Computed from JPL's orbital elements.
