(5939) Toshimayeda Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 1 March 1981 by S. J. Bus at Siding Spring.

Toshiko Mayeda (b. 1923), senior research associate at the University of Chicago Enrico Fermi Institute, has produced a comprehensive body of data on oxygen isotopes in meteorites. These data have provided an essential tool for the classification of meteorites, and for relating meteorites to their parent bodies.Naming citation (20020624/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
