(31043) Sturm Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 11 June 1996 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.

Charles-François Sturm (1803-1855) was a Swiss-born French mathematician. He proved a theorem that specifies the number of real roots of an algebraic equation that lie between two values of the variable. He also studied differential equations whose solutions form complete orthogonal sequences.Naming citation (20020328/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
