(12481) Streuvels Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 12 March 1997 by E. W. Elst at La Silla.

Stijn Streuvels (pseudonym of Frank Lateur, 1871-1969) was a Flemish novelist and a nephew of the poet Guido Gezelle. His work describes everyday situations realistically, which, by influence of Russian fatalism, may evolve dramatically. However, his masterpiece De Vlaschaard (1907) strikes a more optimistic view of life.Naming citation (20040504/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
