(392070) Siurell Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 14 February 2009 by OAM at La Sagra.

Siurells are handcrafted figurines from the island of Mallorca. They are modeled in clay and attached to a base to which a whistle is attached. Once baked, the figurine is dipped in a lime bath. Years ago, they were used by shepherds to communicate with their livestock, although today their use is mostly decorative.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 5, #4, 6), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
