(565571) Shtol Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 24 November 2011 by Kryachko, T., Satovski, B. at Zelenchukskaya Stn.

Victor Shtol (1936–2022) was a Russian design engineer who invented a unique spectropolarimeter. This device enabled precise measurements of polarization in narrow spectral regions. The instrument he developed was used to investigate the magnetic fields of Ap stars, Wolf-Rayet stars, Be stars, and numerous other intriguing celestial objects.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 5, #4, 36), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
