(9275) Persson Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 16 March 1980 by C.-I. Lagerkvist at La Silla.

Jøran Persson (1530-1568) worked for Swedish king Erik XIV as counselor and prosecutor. Although he was at first seen as having a very large and bad influence on the king, later research has shown that he was a very efficient tool for the king's demands. He was tortured and beheaded after the king had been put into custody.Naming citation (19991123/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
