Discovered on 26 October 2006 by P. A. Wiegert at Mauna Kea.

Els Peeters (b. 1973) is a Belgian-Canadian astronomer who completed her PhD at the University of Groningen on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and dust in regions of massive star formation. She studies how stars are formed, the inter-/circumstellar medium in galaxies, and theoretical astrochemistry.
