(85179) Meistereckhart Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 11 October 1990 by Borngen, F., Schmadel, L. D. at Tautenburg.
Master (in German, Meister) Eckhart (1260?-1327/28), born in Thuringia, is the greatest German mystic. His philosophy is unique, although it combines Greek, Neoplatonic, Arabic and Scholastic elements. Because part of his theological writings are in German, he influenced German language and terminology.Naming citation (20050407/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
