(4326) McNally Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 28 April 1982 by E. Bowell at Anderson Mesa.
Named in honor of Derek McNally, Director of the University of London Observatory (University College London). A teacher of the discoverer while he was an undergraduate student, McNally's main astronomical research areas are theoretical modeling of star formation and interstellar spectroscopy using both ground-based observations and data from the International Ultraviolet Explorer satellite. He also takes a keen interest in astronomical education. Currently, he is general secretary of the International Astronomical Union. Citation provided by J. E. Guest at the request of the discoverer.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 4, #9, 4), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
