(8083) Mayeda Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 1 November 1988 by T. Seki at Geisei.
Named in memory of Shizuo (Haruhisa) Mayeda (1914-1952), amateur astronomer and pioneer Mars observer who studied changes in the colors of albedo features on that planet. Name proposed by the discoverer following a suggestion by T. Sato and A. Fujii.Naming citation (19981005/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
Where Mayeda is today
Seen from above the solar system on 2026-10-14: Mayeda is 2.63 au from the Sun and 2.69 au from Earth. Computed from JPL's orbital elements.
