Discovered on 7 September 1999 by LINEAR at Socorro.
Rahil Rajankumar Makadia (b. 2000) is an American-Indian planetary scientist at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Rahil has worked on Kinetic Impactor based planetary defense efforts and confirmed the heliocentric orbit deflection of the binary asteroid (65803) Didymos caused by the NASA Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART).Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 6, #11, 24), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
