(61913) Lanning Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 28 August 2000 by S. D. Kern at Cerro Tololo.

Howard Lanning (1946-2007) validated astronomical software and assisted astronomers at Mount Wilson, the National Optical Astronomical Observatories and the Space Telescope Science Institute. He also studied variable stars and catalogued ultraviolet-excess stars in the Sandage Two-color Survey of the Galactic Plane.Naming citation (20080321/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
