(10918) Kodaly Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 1 January 1998 by Spacewatch at Kitt Peak.

With his friend Béla Bartók, Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodaly (1882-1967) collected melodies and rhythms from Hungarian folk songs into his own works. His highly expressionistic and demanding Sonata for Solo 'Cello (1915) was one of the first major works for unaccompanied 'cello since Bach's Suites.Naming citation (20010509/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
