Discovered on 15 June 1988 by E. F. Helin at Palomar.
John V. Lambert (b. 1945) has developed techniques for determining the sizes and shapes of minor planets from occultation and lightcurve observations. He is now involved in the U.S. Air Force Space Command and the Phillips Laboratory programs for the study of near-Earth objects.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 5, #28, 6), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
