(19570) Jessedouglas Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 13 June 1999 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.

Jesse Douglas (1897-1965) was an American mathematician who first gave a general solution to the problem of Plateau: to prove the existence of a surface of least area bounded by a given contour. The problem had been worked on by many outstanding mathematician, including Riemann and Weierstrass.Naming citation (20010309/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
