(30838) Hitomiyamasaki Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 7 February 1991 by T. Seki at Geisei.
Hitomi Yamasaki (b. 1945) contracted Hansen's disease when young and was forced to live in isolation for many decades at a leprosarium. Comet Ikeya-Seki interested her in astronomy and, through the exchange of letters with the second discoverer, she found happiness and purpose in life.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 1, #8, 6), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
