(12022) Hilbert Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 15 December 1996 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.
David Hilbert (1862-1943), professor at Göttingen and one of the greatest mathematicians of all time, exerted a profound influence on the development of many branches of mathematics in the twentieth century: the foundations, geometry, algebra, analysis. His name is associated with the infinite-dimensional Hilbert space.Naming citation (20000124/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
