(24944) Harish-Chandra Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 11 June 1997 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.

Harish-Chandra (1923-1983) was born and educated in India but spent most of his academic career in the United States. He made profound contributions to the theory of infinite-dimensional representations of groups and their associated characters, as well as the differential equations they satisfy.Naming citation (20010804/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
