(6136) Gryphon Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 22 December 1990 by Natori, A., Urata, T. at Yakiimo.
In Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the Gryphon had an eagle's head, a front half with wings and talons, and at the back a lion's legs and tail. Unfortunately, Alice did not quite like the look of the creature. The Gryphon appears to have been a friend of the Mock Turtle.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 3, #13, 8), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
