(37840) Gramegna Main-belt Asteroid
Discovered on 20 February 1998 by Osservatorio San Vittore at Bologna.
Maria Gramegna (1887-1915) was an Italian mathematician who studied linear differential equations. The techniques in his thesis, now lost, were highly original. He taught mathematics in Avezzano, and was one of 30000 people killed during the 1915 January 13 earthquake.Naming citation (MPC batch dated 2015-08-29), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
