(5479) Grahamryder Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 30 October 1989 by S. J. Bus at Cerro Tololo.

Graham Ryder (1949-2002) was a U.S. lunar scientist who pioneered several important concepts about the moon and its evolution. He was among the first to recognize evidence in the lunar sample collection that mare volcanism began very early in lunar history, before the period of late heavy bombardment had ended.Naming citation (20020624/MPCPages.arc), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
