(46748) Giusacayrel Main-belt Asteroid

Discovered on 27 February 1998 by ODAS at Caussols.

Giusa Cayrel (1920–2012) was the first woman astronomer appointed at Padova University, Italy. In 1947 she precisely determined the latitude of the Asiago Observatory. During her career at Paris Observatory she worked on the evolution of the Milky Way through the detailed analysis of stellar spectra. She was a pioneer in the study of solar twins.Naming citation (WGSBN Bull. 3, #3, 12), IAU / Minor Planet Center, via NASA/JPL
